America is spiritually ill.

My Recent Posts

Today's Drudge Report has a headline by Armstrong Williams, a leading conservative voice, and a backer of Ben Carson for President in 2016.  It's title is 'Spiritual Illness is crippling America'.  Does anyone doubt this?  Of course, the schools and media will hush this up, because if American's realize we are ill, we'd start making different choices, and that would mean the media, drug industry, porn industry, alcohol industry, and other illicit ventures would lose fortunes. They really don't like that idea at all. So, they have a huge interest in keeping the patient ill, so as to continue the patients dependence upon them.

The article went on to detail the horrifying case of a comatose patient in an Arizona nursing facility, who has been comatose for 14 years, suddenly giving birth.  This made it quite obvious that she was raped by one off the staff at the facility, and an investigation is underway. We were begun, despite the lefts constant shrieks about 'muh slavery' and 'muh Indian's land', by virtuous men.  They had faults, but they understood the fight between good and evil, and even the vices some were guilty of, they never dreamed of representing as good, but they even decried their own bad habits.  Contrast this with today's left.  If you call out their bad habits, they don't apologize in the least for them, and they are even proud of them.  Notice how some of the people who are the most corrupt and wicked, will constantly dredge up the slightest wrongdoing of those in the past, real or imagined, and use it to try and justify their own evil choices today.  This is a standard tactic of the wicked.  They don't want to change, and they will viciously attack anyone who is good who calls them out.   There are many pseudo-conservatives who fit in this category as well.

This began when America departed from the Bible.  When we introduced the evolution fairytale, and trained humans they were animals, why are we surprised when we have so many who act like animals?  Notice, the left's triple values, money, power, and pleasure.  The Bible calls it, in 1 John, 'the lusts of the flesh, the pride of life, and the lust of the eye'.  Jeff Bezos, the wealthiest man in the world, is getting divorced for cheating on his wife.  This is quite common.  It's far rarer for a wealthy and powerful man in America to be virtuous, than it is for him to be corrupt.  And when your powerful leaders are corrupt, you can be sure the people are in trouble.

There is a battle, every day, within every one of us, between the spiritual and the carnal.  The spirit, which elevates, refines, purifies, and brings love, peace and joy wars against the carnal, which is base, low, vile, filthy, wicked, and evil, and which leads to misery, anguish, and agony.  And the carnal has been winning in America for decades. We are dying.

At last nights local school board, we learned that our schools went from 20,000 students in the 1990's, to below 10,000 today.  It has shrunk by half.  The beloved elementary school I once attended as a child now resembles a fortress.  The place where I happily played kickball, soccer, football, four square, tetherball, and basketball at recess, is now surrounded by fencing and walls, and no one can enter when school is not in session, and children are guarded to prevent them from leaving when it is.  Our society is dying.  This is what happens when pleasure is worshiped, and children are viewed as a burden. When a society values money over life, that society is headed to certain destruction.  But, the Marxist Epicureans on the left, think only pleasure matters,  that life itself, along with the spirit are meaningless, and that morality is relative.

What is even sadder than watching the Decline and Fall of America, is the Americans who stubbornly refuse to admit anything is wrong, and insist upon engaging in the daily routines that have gotten us into the mess to begin with.  They don't want to examine history or themselves.  Too much thinking.  We prefer idleness, folly, partying, drinking, and having a good time.  We prefer attending concerts, sporting events, or some other event where we can go to amuse ourselves to death, not interact with hardly anyone, and come home to do it all over again.

Half of solving a problem, is admitting there is one to begin with.  Each of us, whether we care to admit it or not, has an influence on others.  Either it is for good, or it is for bad.  The question is, if everyone imitated our habits, would America and the world be better, or worse?  Our choices today are a butterfly effect. We each have the power to change the lives of people not even born yet, with our daily choices.

Choose a thought, reap an action,

Choose an action, reap a habit,

Choose a habit, reap a character,

Choose a character, reap a destiny.

All of us have erred in the past, and nature has informed us on the wisdom of our choices.  The key is to alter our choices today based on the poor decisions of yesterday, for it is never too late to be what we should have been.  Either we choose life, and reap joy, peace, love, and self control, or we choose death, and we reap misery, sorrow, pain, and suffering.  When we make right choices, the afflictions of life cannot harm us. When we make poor choices, we are incapable of enjoying the blessings of life.  What choices will we make?  If America is to get well, it must begin first with us.

So what is new in human civilization where 99% of all nations are class societies.  They keep those in a class and their prodigy in the same class using government laws and force.   In the late 1500's Martin Luther faced a Holy Roman Church as the creator of a class society.   And lucky the provinces didn't get their fair share of the spoils.  Once government makes life unfair and is ruthless then being immoral is one of the few pleasures left.  Religion is just another class structure no better or worse.  To prosper in must play ball.

Yes, they try to do this often, Thomas. This is why liberals hate conservatives, because conservatives often deserves the wealth and jobs the liberals plunder.  So they are constantly afraid.

Very true.  The Pope has a lot in common with today's liberals.  Listen to them, or shut up.  They don't want to hear what the rest of us have to say.

Yes, that's right.  The power of the pen.  The pen is mightier than the sword.  Any of us conservatives on here, not counting the fake ones like TBH, can easily take out any liberal in America in a debate, and that includes Obama, Hillary, Bernie, Kamala, or any of their other thinkers in the media and schools. So their whole structure is tottering, because it's becoming very clear that their leaders are weak. They hate Trump because he exposes them as frauds.

We do, Thomas.  You are very right.  And it won't happen on the internet.  We need churches in every city in the world, where the Bible is taught and followed.  Somehow, the common man has to be diverted from the corporate distractions of hellivision, porn, and social media, and back to the great ideas that shaped human history. Once a person has experienced great ideas, great books, great literature, the stirring epics of the past, they will recognize the media and schools today for the cheap pretenders and frauds they are.

Yes, with Autumn, WB is a channel.  One can easily see the liberals got demolished on here.  They are in their death throes.  They can't stand up to the fire of open debate, and that's why they are always trying to shut down debate.

WB still has a ways to go to get to where it is a bastion of liberty, wisdom, and virtue, but She is on her way.  And it only takes a small but determined band who stubbornly stand on principles, no matter what, to effect change.  Remember, only 15% of America fought the Revolutionary War, Thomas, and what a difference in world history that has made.

Leroy: The heart of the problem is excessive government.

We agree excessive government is a problem, but I'd argue the heart is the heart of the problem.  Governments are made up of people, and it is the people who support corrupt governments that are the problem, not the government themselves.  Wise and virtuous people get wise and virtuous leaders, and foolish and corrupt people get foolish and corrupt leaders.

"In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate -- look at his character. It is alleged by men of loose principles, or defective views of the subject, that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications for political stations. But the scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, men of truth, hating covetousness. It is to the neglect of this rule that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breaches of trust, speculations and embezzlements of public property which astonish even ourselves; which tarnish the character of our country and which disgrace our government. When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility; he not only sacrifices his own responsibility; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his country."

It's getting to solutions that is elusive and getting to solutions that work is almost impossible.

It is possible. Those who learn history, understand the same patterns govern humans and nations.  This is why the Founders were so brilliant, to take the lessons of the past, and apply them to the Constitution, and some were in their thirties!!  JFK, for all his faults, truly said, 'I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House - with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.'

Thumping the Bible or the Koran on a site like WriterBeat isn't likely to gain converts as all of us will likely have had those conversations with ourselves long ago and have been living the conclusions ever since.

The Founders knew the Bible and largely followed it, and gave us this great nation.  We are leaving the Bible, and ignoring it, and our nation is being destroyed.  One will find the truth if one is determined. However, one doesn't even need to know the Bible to know it's importance in America. Simply understanding the words of the Founders and the importance they placed upon it should suffice.

I again note the United States, alone, has pumped tens of trillions of dollars into solving the perceived problems with both political parties contributing heavily to the Treasury.

A huge waste.  Money doesn't solve the problems, it grows them. That government governs best which governs least.

Yes, succinctly true.  One desperately wishes for 1912, when no income tax existed and our government was quite small and efficient.

On top of that, we don't even have a Congress that can come to an agreement with the President even to keep the paper pushers and the soft-coup contingent employed!

It's amazing how when Republicans tried to shut down the government over Obamacare, the media crucified Ted Cruz and others.  But when the Democrats shut down the government to allow illegal aliens in, the media LOVES  them.  Shows how foreign nations may as well be controlling our media.

Ryan, I would argue that government leaders are well-intentioned and compassionate.  They genuinely think that a bigger, compassionate government serves the people better.  The welfare and social safety nets that we have in place are there because we are a compassionate people.  However, it has done more to undermine the family than anything I can think of.  If the government weren't there to take care of our parents, we would have to do it.  I hear the argument that not all adults have children to take care of them.  I understand, but most adults do have children.  I think it is good when we need each other. Democrats control the 20 wealthiest congressional districts in America.  If they want to help the poor so much, they can take their money and do it, because it is the job of ANYBODY, but the government to help the poor and sick.  Giving people welfare when one doesn't examine their need, actually disables them.

However, it has done more to undermine the family than anything I can think of.

Yes the Democrats control, and have so for more than half-a-century some of the largest and wealthiest cities in the nation, if not the world.  The governance of those cities has been skewed liberal with lots of great intention coupled with an equally great degree of corruption and down-right waste

Poverty is concentrated in the city, perhaps because that is where poverty likes to congregate, but within the city limits nonetheless.  What have the trillions spent actually done for poverty in the urban center?  Not very much.

Under-performing schools are concentrated in the city, perhaps because that is where the both the impoverished and the unwilling like to congregate, but within the city limits nonetheless.  What have the trillions dumped into "education" by the federal, state, county, and city governments done to improve the performance of our schools?  Not very much; there is been a slow but relentless sinking of the standards for the high-school graduate to the point that post-high-school education is required to remediate the failures of the lower-, middle-, and high-school grades.

The need for adequate healthcare is concentrated in the city, perhaps because that's where poverty and inadequate education like to congregate, but within the city limits nonetheless.  What have the hundreds of billions dumped into healthcare done to improve the on-going health of the urban populations?  Not very much; there has been a increase in infant mortality both pre- and post-natal in spite of the huge financial support given to assure the health of the urban community.

The pockets of violence are concentrated in the city, perhaps because those who are desperate for all of the other necessities of life in spite of all of the monies spent, have no reason to see that taking it from someone else is morally and ethically wrong.

It is time to scrap those programs that have continued to fail us, admitting that the fine experiments were just that...experiments.  It is no sin to try an fail.

But it is a sin not to admit that experiment is flawed and needs reworking.

That was what Trump was elected to do.  And it is time that the naysayers turn to a more constructive outlet and help our nation save that which is worthy of saving and scraping that which we all know is no longer viable.

"This began when America departed from the Bible."
Bible is one of the most dangerous books on Earth. I have read that scientists have found thousands of logical contradictions in it, over 8000 of them. Moreover, one scientist told that reading Bible is the same as walking a minefield. People who wrote the Bible were really cruel ones. How do you like it that Christ in the gospel of Matthew told someone to leave alone his parents and go away with him? Imagine you leave your old parents just to follow someone and go away to live in some other place. Christianity is called a slave code because it keeps its supporter in fear of punishment by intimidation and blackmail if he does not accept the will of the rulers.
"We prefer idleness, folly, partying, drinking, and having a good time."
Folly and drinking are not good things but partying and having a good time are the nice things which are the manifestation of natural needs. Americans have a good time enjoying their life so they are going the right way. It is much better then to live in poverty as ordered by Christ and think all the time of the Kingdom of heaven where the ticket will not be issued if you do not follow all the commandments of Christ including do not answer with a punch to the one who attacked you and love your enemies.
Here is a small quote from Russian Wikipedia: "The Bible was written by different authors for many centuries, according to the traditional point of view in Christianity - from the XV century BC till the I century AD, many secular researchers hold opinions on the later origin of the books of the Old Testament. Some modern scholars are of the opinion that most of the books of the Old Testament and all the gospels were written by anonymous authors".
I do not think that the hoax should serve as a life guide.

Few decry our regime change foreign policy

Few decry Citizens United

Owl, the Greeks and Romans were talking about virtue and wisdom long before Christ came.  Here are some of history's great thinkers on virtue and wisdom.  Who has actually done anything in history who agrees with you?

"Honor is truly sacred, but holds a lower rank in the scale of moral excellence than virtue. Indeed the former is part of the latter, and consequently has not equal pretensions to support a frame of government productive of human happiness."
John Adams

"Human nature itself is evermore an advocate for liberty. There is also in human nature a resentment of injury, and indignation against wrong. A love of truth and a veneration of virtue. These amiable passions, are the "latent spark"... If the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice, to what better principle can the friends of mankind apply than to the sense of this difference?"
John Adams

"Our liberty depends on our education, our laws, and habits . . . it is founded on morals and religion, whose authority reigns in the heart, and on the influence all these produce on public opinion before that opinion governs rulers."
Fisher Ames

"It is certainly true that a popular government cannot flourish without virtue in the people."
Richard Henry Lee

"Whenever we are planning for posterity, we ought to remember that virtue is not hereditary."
Thomas Paine

"[N]either the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend of the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen onto any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man."
Samuel Adams

"The diminution of public virtue is usually attended with that of public happiness, and the public liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals."
Samuel Adams

"[M]en will be free no longer then while they remain virtuous."
Samuel Adams

"If virtue & knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslav'd. This will be their great security."
Samuel Adams

"No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."
Samuel Adams

It is to the neglect of this rule that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breaches of trust, speculations and embezzlements of public property which astonish even ourselves; which tarnish the character of our country and which disgrace our government. The Owl: In some of the rest, Ryan, you make some interesting and valid points...

Thank you, Owl.
Yes the Democrats control, and have so for more than half-a-century some of the largest and wealthiest cities in the nation, if not the world.  The governance of those cities has been skewed liberal with lots of great intention coupled with an equally great degree of corruption and down-right waste

Liberalism is a mental illness. Michael Savage

Poverty is concentrated in the city, perhaps because that is where poverty likes to congregate, but within the city limits nonetheless.  What have the trillions spent actually done for poverty in the urban center?  Not very much.

The big city media and schools lead to corrupt echo chambers, IMO.  And you are right, the trillions spent in the War on Poverty have only created more poverty.

It seems the more money dumped into the schools, the worse they perform.

Quite true.  Government improves nothing much at all, if we are brutally honest about it.

The pockets of violence are concentrated in the city, perhaps because those who are desperate for all of the other necessities of life in spite of all of the monies spent, have no reason to see that taking it from someone else is morally and ethically wrong.

They aren't morally or historically educated, and as such, they cannot govern themselves.

It is time to scrap those programs that have continued to fail us, admitting that the fine experiments were just that...experiments.  It is no sin to try an fail.

Agreed.  Kids from homes with both parents do the best in school.  Thus the need to contain sex in marriage.

But it is a sin not to admit that experiment is flawed and needs reworking.

That was what Trump was elected to do.  And it is time that the naysayers turn to a more constructive outlet and help our nation save that which is worthy of saving and scraping that which we all know is no longer viable.

I really recommend, 'The 5,000 year leap'.  The principles our nation was founded upon will still work today, if we learn them, and have the courage to stand for them.

I must confess ignorance of that show.
Spirituality is in short supply today as it always has been but there has never been a philosophy or religion that God or any other power has made so superior that it gains the right over all others.

We differ on that, my friend.  America's Founders were all Christian, and it was their wisdom that bequeathed liberty to us, and it is leaving Christianity that is making us slaves.

Web: "This began when America departed from the Bible."
Bible is one of the most dangerous books on Earth.

If you don't like it, go to China, the biggest atheist nation on earth, criticize the government, and when they beat you half to death, you'll learn gratitude.

I have read that scientists have found thousands of logical contradictions in it, over 8000 of them.

There is a lot of garbage for people to read.    You can't name a single contradiction that you can't find the answer for on the internet.  You don't find the reasons for the same reason a thief doesn't find the policeman, he doesn't want to.
Moreover, one scientist told that reading Bible is the same as walking a minefield.
Scientists used to say blacks were intellectually inferior, that transfusions of blood between the races were impossible, and that the earth was flat.  Science is a sorry source for truth, when alone.

People who wrote the Bible were really cruel ones.
Fake news. Atheistic Marxism has killed 100 million over the last 100 years, and you think the Bible is cruel?  How do you get so ignorant?

How do you like it that Christ in the gospel of Matthew told someone to leave alone his parents and go away with him?
It sounds better than you liberals, who murder people's babies.

Imagine you leave your old parents just to follow someone and go away to live in some other place.
You liberals do it all the time.  Except you give people massive student debt and whacky ideas when they are done with your crazed and lunatic colleges.

Christianity is called a slave code because it keeps its supporter in fear of punishment by intimidation and blackmail if he does not accept the will of the rulers.
Not hardly.  America is the freest nation on earth, due to the implementation of Christian principles.

"We prefer idleness, folly, partying, drinking, and having a good time."
Folly and drinking are not good things but partying and having a good time are the nice things which are the manifestation of natural needs.
There is a difference between needs and wants, and liberals rarely know it.

Americans have a good time enjoying their life so they are going the right way.
These are the ideas of Sophists and Epicureans, which both led to the demise of empires.

It is much better then to live in poverty as ordered by Christ and think all the time of the Kingdom of heaven where the ticket will not be issued if you do not follow all the commandments of Christ including do not answer with a punch to the one who attacked you and love your enemies.

Money is not evil, doing the wrong thing to acquire it, is.  Christ's command was to treat others well, however, self defense is not out of the question.  We have two different political systems.  In Christ's day, if you defended yourself against Roman aggression, you'd be put to death.  Christ was put to death anyway.  In our day, we have the 2nd Amendment.
Here is a small quote from target="_blank">Russian Wikipedia: "The Bible was written by different authors for many centuries, according to the traditional point of view in Christianity - from the XV century BC till the I century AD, many secular researchers hold opinions on the later origin of the books of the Old Testament. Some modern scholars are of the opinion that most of the books of the Old Testament and all the gospels were written by anonymous authors".
All attacks on the Bible are refuted thoroughly, to those willing to search the matter out.
I do not think that the hoax should serve as a life guide.

The French Revolution was led by men who agreed with you, and it ended in a bloodbath.  Napoleon was going all over the world with war before the atheistic origins were finally calmed.  America was founded by men who agreed with the Bible, and so we have the greatest nation on earth.  History teaches those who are wise enough to learn her lessons.

Yes.

Democrats decry the chronically lying pussy grabbing Golden Golem of Greatness.

However, they ignore Barry the Fairy and Billy Jeff the rapist.

We didn't have military bases all over the world before Hitler.  How did that turn out?

If you want peace, prepare for war.
Vegetius.

Few decry our regime change foreign policy
We've made mistakes, but we have removed many corrupt tyrants.  If our nation didn't rely upon oil, and the destiny of our country didn't depend on it, our interests in the Middle East would be practically nil.

Few decry Citizens United

The Democrats, who were behind that, are the wealthiest in America.  They are simply trying to choke out corporations giving money.  Forbidding anyone to give money to a political cause is oppressive.  That said, we have many Americans who make lots of money overseas, and then want to use it in politics in America. That I have a problem with.  Hillary Clinton comes to mind, one of the biggest opponents of corporate political donations, while taking billions from foreign nations.

Some see a tax break as a gift to the wealthy, and others see it removing the theft from their hard earned cash.

Welfare, corporate and individual, is theft.  It is  not the governments job at all.

The mess is large and my point is that many see the illness only on the other side of the isle, or the other side of their religion.

Finally, invariable, all roads lead to Islam.

God help us.  Islam is a death cult, responsible for 270 million deaths worldwide in it's 1,400 year history.

Absolutely, rycK.  They hate themselves, and so hate us.  It's not that the right isn't capable of these evil behaviors, we are, but we acknowledge them as evil, and we fight them in ourselves, and call them evil, even if we are guilty of them.  The left calls good evil, and evil good.  One who engages in these behaviors cannot love themselves, and so cannot love others.  Without love, all that is left in life is money, power, and pleasure, or the Epicureanism that was in Rome. The end is miserable. This explains why Democrats favor assisted death.  When they can no longer have 'fun', they want to die, and see no point in life.  This is dangerous.  Attitudes like these destroy a nation when it's at war.  If the American GI's had this attitude in World War 2, we'd have been destroyed.  Any army of liberal men today you put on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, would be ruthlessly slaughtered.

But I'd add that when people come to believe in Christianity, they often get changed from the inside out by God. And the external attributes of which you speak are an outflow from that internal transformation.

RYAN >>"There is a battle, every day, within every one of us, between the spiritual and the carnal. "
I do not doubt there is a battle every day in every one of us, however everyone doesn't have an inner battle between the Spiritual things of God and their natural Spirit.  If someone has never been transformed by the Holy Spirit then they "are none of his" as the Bible states.  [Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.]

America has a great problem now because many in our society have  become bored.  They have not only rejected the natural laws of this world and common moral teaching but have willingly embraced the insane.  The Devil is so deceiving the defenseless natural man that even common sense has been lost.  Without serious teaching and training as to a hospitable lifestyle, morality and respect, the natural person easily falls away from decency and becomes a prime target of continual degradation and spiritual evil. Without the Holy Spirit the blind natural man has no guide and little to no chance of getting back to what we call sanity.

As humanity turns away from plain common sense and decent living they certainly and willingly turn away from any chance of either salvation.  That is, firstly, that natural salvation of guidance and teaching which can save them from many perils in this life but spiritual salvation which can lead them beyond the natural giving them reasons for hope not only in this life but beyond into eternal life.
My point being that America is naturally ill and also rejects the Spirit of God who could turn them from their wickedness.
[Heb 12:9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?]

Kurt, you hit the nail on the head. The deception and insanity on the left are the natural course of rejecting God. They’ve been turned over to reprobate minds. I’ve never in my life seen this on such a large scale. It is making it easier to imagine how the world will be deceived during the tribulation...and how violence toward those who don’t take the mark of the beast will occur.

In the 60's prayer and Bible reading were banned from the schools by the Supreme Court. While that was happening, I was out of the country.. Before I left I had been training guidance counselors under a government grant

Imagine the shock I received when I returned and my former students were freaking out. "Don, you have no idea what has been happening while you were gone. The kids have gone weird. They are doing drugs in the restrooms. Sexually blatant. Most of all, many are being nasty to their teachers–behaviors we have never seen before at least on this scale."

In Psychology as well as in law, one has to prove proximate cause i.e. one event caused another. We may never be able to prove proximate cause between out-of-control behavior we have been seeing since the sixties and removal of prayer and Bible reading. But the two events definitely paralleled each other.

Don, I believe it! I know someone who is an elementary school teacher and he has noticed that some children already at this age seem “gone.” It may be too late for some of them, outside the saving grace of Jesus. The rebellion and apathy is pronounced. We see that in many adults here on Writer Beat as well. It takes a lot of work on the part of teachers to try to reverse this trend but unfortunately if the reinforcement is not done at home, in only rare cases will that child’s life change for the good. There are of course wonderful testimonies where a teacher’s efforts do make enough of a difference if the child can humble himself or herself and looks up to the teacher. But ultimately, every human needs Jesus and without the help of the Holy Spirit of God in our lives, we are deprived. I thank God He saved me at age 8. My life could have gone down a much different path given my home situation. God makes beauty out of our pain.

The assumption that we have "good, moral teachers " must be based on the extra assumption that those teachers are not confined to an anti-religious regimen. That is really not the case as we saw in the prayer in schools and other battles with the far left.

Teachers in public schools are, in my opinion, plugged into narrow ideologies that they must teach and support on and off the job. Thus we get emphasis on diversity, evils of business, the demand that we all go green and other political follies.
